Corinthians Wrap Up the 2009 Season

In the last Corinthian race of the summer on Sunday Sept. 13, nine sailors patiently waited for a ten-knot breeze to fill in from the Northwest for a great finish for the season. The racers enjoyed a post-race cookout and awards ceremony at the Dickinson’s. Vaporize and Moriah took the spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions, respectively, in Sunday’s race. For the season, in the spinnaker division, Cut Loose was first, followed by Vaporize and JaKo; and in the non-spinnaker fleet Moriah finished first, followed by Happy Days and Em Jay. Congratulations to the winners! Complete results available as always on LakeGeorgeRacing.com

Final Corinthian Race and Awards BBQ on Sunday

The Corinthians will host their fifth and final race on Sunday, Sept. 13. The race will follow the usual format with a 12:30 pm start; racers will take their own time at the finish and report it to Nate Dickinson at 796-4907 or on Channel 66 immediately following the race. There will be awards for the season at the after-race cook-out at the Dickinsons’ place on Rockhurst. If you come by boat, anchor and we will bring you in. By car, turn at the Cleverdale store, go North on the Cleverdale Rd. about a half mile, right on Rockhurst Rd., then take the first left out to the point. Go under the arch at the end and it’s the first place on the left. If you have not already done so, please contact Nate with your steak reservation as soon as possible.

Catchin’ Js Wins Corinthian Race to Sabbath Day Pt

Eight sailors took advantage of brisk south winds of 12 to 15 knots to complete the latest long-distance race added to the Corinthian schedule this year. Vaporize led the fleet around the course, from Hogback Reef to Sabbath Day Point and back, but wound up in fourth on corrected time. Catchin’ Js took first. A non-spinnaker fleet raced a shorter course using Hatchet Island near the Mother Bunch as a northern mark. Moriah led the fleet home in just under five hours. Check out the complete results.

Corinthian Racing Update

The northern turning mark will be the Three Chimney Shoals buoy located south of Sabbath Day point, then return to Hogback, round and take your time and report to Nate Dickinson at 796-4907 or 747-3600. And the Corinthian’s last race of the season will be Sunday, Sept. 13. After the race there will be an awards ceremony and cook-out at the Dickinson cottage on Rockhurst. Dinner will consist of beer, soda, potato salad, tossed salad, a ribeye steak and dessert. Corinthians who have paid their ’09 membership fee will be entitled to two steak dinners at no charge. Corinthian Race Date Change

Two of our competitors are going to Oswego to compete in a J/24 regatta the weekend of Aug 16. Therefore we are rescheduling Race 3 in the Corinthian series — the new race date is Sunday, Aug. 23. Hopefully, this will not inconvenience anyone and we will have more boats on the line Aug. 23. Same time and format as usual.

JaKo Wins Around Islands Race

Undaunted by the threatening weather forecast, five boats turned out for the Corinthian Around the Islands race. The course took the fleet around Little Canoe, Diamond Island and Hogback, with a finish at the North Canoe buoy. Vaporize took line honors but was bested by JaKo on corrected time for the spinnaker division. In the non-spinnaker division Moriah, Happy Days and Em Jay took first, second and third, respectively.
